Looking for estuary adventures in July and August? Look no further! BayVentures is a series of summer environmental education programs for children ages 7-11. All programs are based at the Great Bay Discovery Center, at 89 Depot Road, Greenland, NH. Programs are two hours in length, and are offered on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Pre-registration is required for the BayVentures programs, and there is a nominal charge for participation that helps defray the cost of materials and supplies (Great Bay Stewards members have a slightly reduced fee). Registration begins on May 15th. Children may sign up for two programs at a time. Please call 603-778-0015 to register and for additional information.
Please have children wear clothes and shoes that can get wet/muddy, since many of our programs are outdoors.
Winter BayVentures are now offered at the Great Bay Discovery Center! Sign your 6-11 year old up during their February vacation for an Animal Autographs program, where they'll spend time outdoors on snowshoes looking for signs of wildlife. The Syrup on Snow program is another great winter BayVentures program where your child will learn about tapping trees for sap to make maple syrup. They'll learn how Native Americans and European settlers practiced this, taste test different grades of syrup on a pancake lunch (provided), and make a cool craft to take home!
For the winter BayVentures series, please have children wear appropriate outdoor clothing (snowclothes, proper boots, layers) as most of the program time is outdoors.
Check out our Calendar of Events for dates and times, and call the Great Bay Discovery Center (603) 778-0015 to register and for additional information.
