REGISTRATION FOR THE 2008 GREAT BAY 5K IS OPEN!
The 2007 was the largest Great Bay 5K ever, with over 800 registered entrants. We thank all those who came out to run and walk the race, and to support the non-profit Great Bay Stewards and the Great Bay Discovery Center. In a time of declining federal and state financial support, the success of fund-raisers like the Great Bay 5K become even more significant.
Now its time to look forward to the 2008 Great Bay 5K - the 10th anniversary edition of this race! Here are the race details:
The 5K is a point-to-point race that starts at the Great Bay Community College on Rt. 33 in Stratham, NH, and finishes at the Great Bay Discovery Center on Depot Road in Greenland. (Click here to download a course map.)
Registration: Click here for on-line registration. Click here to download a mail-in registration form. This year's race is limited to 1,000 entrants.
Race Day Registration Schedule: 7:30am to 8:45am at the Great Bay Community College. The 5K starts at 9:00 sharp in the parking lot of the College.
Packet Pick-Up: 12:00pm to 6:00pm on Friday, October 24 at the Hugh Gregg Coastal Conservation Center, part of the Great Bay Discovery Center. This is pick-up only - registration will not be available here.
The FREE Fun Run is open to children ages 2-10. The run distance is approximately 200 yards on a looped, trail course at the Great Bay Discovery Center. The Fun Run starts at 9:50 (after the 5K). All children in the race will receive race numbers and prizes. There is no fee for the Fun Run, but participating children must have an entry form completed for them.
This is the final race in the 2008 Seacoast Road Race Series. Anyone who completes 6 of the 8 Seacoast Series races (including at least one 10K) will earn a coveted Series jacket. However, you must register for the Seacoast Series by July 31 to qualify. Click here for complete information on the Seacoast Road Race Series.
Scoring: This year's GB5K will use the ChampionChip system for more efficient timing. All entrants will receive a Chip to wear on their shoe in the race. There will be a "gun" start, and timing mats at the finish line. You MUST return your Chip immediately after the race, or you will be charged a $35 replacement fee. Granite State Race Services will score the race, and will post the results on Cool Running the day after the race. Click here for last year's results.
Entry fee: The entry fee is $17 for those who
register on line or postmark their mail-in entries on or before
October 3. After October 3, all entries are $20. Only those registered on or before October 3 are guaranteed long-sleeve race t-shirts. Shirts will be given to later registrants while supplies last.
Trade-up to a moisture-wicking shirt: Get a long-sleeve 100% polyester (like Coolmax) race shirt instead of a cotton shirt by checking the MOISTURE-WICKING SHIRT TRADE-UP box on your entry form, and adding $10 to your entry fee. This offer is only available to those who register on or before October 3.

The awards ceremony, following the completion of the 5K and Fun Run (at approximately 10:15), will be held in the Hugh Gregg Coastal Conservation Center at the Great Bay Discovery Center (at the far end of the parking lot from the finish line). Once again this year, Open Window will be playing some great music following the race.
